Hemoglobin

Hemoglobin, 2024 Iron sculpture installation Three cubes, each 39.3 × 39.3 × 39.3 in (100 × 100 × 100 cm) 15th Havana Biennial · Detrás del Muro Havana, Cuba · 2024–2025 Presented along Havana’s Malecón as part of “Detrás del Muro” during the 15th Havana Biennial, “Hemoglobin” brings together three red iron sculptures in a public installation exploring the continuous exchange essential to life. Each cube is perforated with dots and lines, allowing light and air to pass through its structure. The repetition of the three forms evokes the rhythm of blood circulation and the ongoing exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide, while their presence in the open urban landscape extends this dialogue to the surrounding environment. Through repetition, transparency, and interaction with public space, the installation reflects on continuity, interdependence, and the invisible processes that connect all living beings.
